Oboe and bassoon courses

John Anderson and Laurence Perkins will lead two parallel five-day courses for amateur oboe and bassoon players of all levels who want to develop their musical and technical skills. These in-depth sessions offer the chance to explore

• good posture and breathing
• sound quality and tuning
• fluency of technique
• effective practice
• solo performance (with pianist Yoshiko Endo)
• the art of musical interpretation
• orchestral excerpts
• tackling performance nerves
• tutored ensemble playing

Playing in the solo performance class is entirely the choice of the player – there is no pressure to do so. For players who would like to do this, it is an opportunity to try out a solo piece with a professional pianist, with expert musical and technical guidance to help your performance to be as effective and satisfying as possible. Players can also bring along any orchestral parts that they may be working towards or would like to explore, along with any technical queries on any aspect of playing.

Park Place is just a short car ride away from the South Downs National Park, and is a wonderfully quiet, comfortable and spacious venue – the perfect setting for for a five-day residential course.

See below for details of course fees.
