BDRS/RNCM Double Reed Festival February 2025

We’re thrilled to invite you to another fantastic BDRS Double Reed Day, this time in partnership with the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), Manchester!

This exciting event will feature a stellar lineup of world-class tutors and performers from the RNCM, offering a day packed with inspiring sessions, performances, and opportunities to dive into the world of double reed instruments.

We’re delighted to welcome the following distinguished artists:

Stéphane Rancourt – RNCM Senior Tutor in Oboe
Andrea Zucco – RNCM International Tutor in Bassoon and Senior Tutor in Bassoon

In addition to the lunchtime concert, the day will include performance classes, tutored ensemble opportunities, and the chance to join a mass play-together to round off the event. As always, you’ll also find a wide selection of instruments and accessories from various traders to explore

Activities to include:

  • Oboe and bassoon ensembles

  • Performance classes

  • Studio (for grades 1-5, working on short excerpts with the tutor

  • Oboe Ensemble

  • Bassoon Ensemble

  • Bassoon reed-making demonstration

  • Oboe reed-making demonstration

  • Period instruments talk and demonstration

  • Oboe and bassoon repair/maintenance talk

  • Contra Clinic

  • Cor Clinic

Ticket sales have now ceased.

School-age/student in full-time education
BDRS member price £30 • Non-member price £35

Adult
BDRS member price £40 • Non-member price £45

We strongly recommend that under-18s be accompanied by a parent/carer.
(The parent/carer may attend for free unless participating in their own right.)

A small number of bursary places are available. Please email assistedplaces@bdrs.org.uk if you would like information on how to apply.

Supporter tickets (£10) are for non double reed players (e.g. a partner or additionalaccompanying parent/carer). (Any participant may observe any session without paying an extra £10 and without the need to reserve a place for the desired session.)
